Create a profile

You can create a profile in three ways: let AI draft it from one source, run a task template that drafts it, or fill it in yourself. Whichever way you choose, you check the profile and nothing is saved until you press Save.

Start a new profile

  1. Click Profiles in the left rail, then New profile at the top right.
  2. Under "What is the profile for?", choose Client profile or Product profile.
  3. Choose how to start:
    • Draft with AI: from one document or pasted posts (client), or from one web page or document (product). "You check it before saving."
    • From a task template: run a task that drafts the profile, then save its result as the profile.
    • Start from scratch: "Fill in what you already know."

You can also create a profile from a task's profile field without leaving the task. See Create a profile from a task.

Draft with AI

AI drafts the profile from one source:

ProfileDraft fromWhat to give it
Client profileUpload a document (PDF, Word, TXT or Markdown) or Paste text3–5 posts the client approved, or their style guide
Product profileWeb address or Upload a document (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, TXT or Markdown)The product's home or product page, or a product brief, one-pager or deck
  1. Under Draft from, choose the kind of source and add it. For a client profile you can also enter the Client name (optional).
  2. Click Draft with AI. "Reading the source and drafting. This usually takes 10–40 seconds."
  3. You can leave the page: "Drafting continues in the background, and the draft waits for you in Profiles." Under AI drafts on the Profiles page, each draft shows Drafting…, Ready to review, or the reason it failed. Click Open to review a draft, or Remove to discard it.
  4. A finished draft opens in the profile form under "Draft ready: check it, then save it". Above the form, ConsoleX lists:
    • What was left out. For a client profile, every voice rule and fact quotes the source. When a quote can't be found in the source, the item is left out of the draft: "Add them yourself if they are right." For a product profile, sources whose excerpt can't be found are listed, because "the facts linked to them may be wrong."
    • For you to confirm: what the source didn't settle.
  5. Check every field and correct anything that's wrong. If the source didn't give the product's stage, the form shows "Stage not established — select it before saving", and you choose a Stage before you can save.
  6. Click Save.

After you save, ConsoleX shows Start a task with this profile with the templates that use this kind of profile. Pick one to open it with your new profile already selected, or come back to it later.

Good to know:

  • Only the source you give is read. For a web address, "Only this page is read, usually the home or product page. Pricing on another page is left for you to fill in."
  • Long sources are read up to their first 30,000 characters, and the draft says so.
  • Scanned files don't work: "A scanned PDF or an image needs to be turned into text first."
  • Cost: "Your first AI profile draft is free." This is one free draft per account, for client and product profiles together. Later drafts use your Credits, and a draft that fails is not charged.
  • If the draft found only a few rules, more of the client's writing gives a fuller profile. Click Use another source to start again from a different source.

From a task template

Use a task template when you want to draft from several sources at once, or rerun the drafting later.

  • Client profile: From a task template opens the Client voice profile template: "Run Client voice profile on 3–5 posts your client approved, then save the result as the profile." When a run finishes, its result offers Save as client profile. Under Save to, choose A new profile or replace an existing one. The "Needs your confirmation" section isn't saved, because it holds what the run inferred rather than read; add anything you've confirmed yourself.
  • Product profile: From a task template opens Create a product profile from materials: "Turn product pages, documents and notes into a sourced draft you can review and save as a product profile." Put product information or links in the instructions, or attach documents. When the run finishes, click Review and save as product profile, check the facts and sources, and save. Source excerpts and unresolved items stay in the run record, and saving doesn't change the run's check result.

Both templates are also in the template gallery under their categories. Like any task, the run is checked and uses your plan. See Create a task from a template.

Start from scratch

Choose Start from scratch to open an empty New client profile or New product profile form. Fill in what you know and click Save. A client profile needs a name and at least one other field.

Edit a profile

Click a profile on the Profiles page to open it. Change any field and click Save. Each save is a new version, and tasks that use the profile follow it from their next run.

The side of the profile page shows:

  • Used by: the tasks that use this profile.
  • Start a task with this profile: the templates that need this kind of profile, and See all templates.
  • History: every version. View shows an earlier version; Restore brings it back as a new version. Save or discard your changes before you restore.
  • Delete profile. You can't delete a profile while tasks still use it; ConsoleX lists them so you can choose another profile in each first. Deleting can't be undone.

If the same profile was changed somewhere else in the meantime, ConsoleX tells you the version it is now at. Save again to replace it with your version.
