ConsoleX and Claude Code — two ways to work
There are two ways to use ConsoleX with Claude Code. Start with what you already have:
- A · You have worked out a workflow in Claude Code. Save it as a ConsoleX task so you can reuse it and check later deliveries. Its method stays in a local Skill, and Claude Code continues to do the work.
- B · You have a ConsoleX task, or want to create one from Chat or a template. Use the plugin to run that task in Claude Code. Its method and capability selection stay in ConsoleX; you can also run it in ConsoleX.
In both cases, ConsoleX keeps the delivery goal, run rules and acceptance criteria, and records submitted results and checks. Saving a task in ConsoleX does not necessarily mean ConsoleX can execute it.
Compare the two workflows
| Question | A · Save a Claude Code workflow | B · Run a task created in ConsoleX |
|---|---|---|
| Where do I start? | A working Claude Code session | ConsoleX Chat, a template, or a task created manually in ConsoleX |
| What is the key action? | /consolex:save, then review and save the draft in ConsoleX | Start the existing task with /consolex:start, or add it with /consolex:add for repeated use |
| Where is the method saved? | The main Skill on your computer; ConsoleX keeps a read-only snapshot | The task's saved instructions and capability selection in ConsoleX |
| Can ConsoleX run it? | No. The method needs its external execution environment | Yes |
| Can Claude Code run it? | Yes, with the main Skill and its required environment available | Yes, through the ConsoleX plugin |
| Which Skills and tools does it use in Claude Code? | The local main Skill and the capabilities its workflow needs | The task's exportable ConsoleX Skills and supported, selected ConsoleX tools |
| Where do I change the method? | Edit the original local Skill | Edit the task in ConsoleX |
| Where can I schedule it? | In Claude Code Desktop, with the required local Skill available | In ConsoleX, or in Claude Code Desktop; choose where you want the work to run |
Both workflows use Claude Code's own model configuration when they run there. ConsoleX tools require the relevant permissions and connections; some Skills and tools cannot be used externally. An ordinary Claude Code session can also have its own local capabilities. See Skills and tools in Claude Code for these limits.

The arrows show the creation and execution paths. Saving or adding a task does not start a new run. Automatic checks run when enabled; results submitted from either environment appear in the task's Run history.
A · Keep a workflow you worked out in Claude Code
For example, you already use Claude Code with local scripts and files to produce a weekly research brief. You want to reuse that method and check future briefs against the same requirements.
- Install and connect the plugin, then work through the workflow in Claude Code.
- Use
/consolex:save. Review the delivery goal, the read-only Skill copy, run rules and suggested checks in ConsoleX, then save the task. - Follow the saved task's start command in Claude Code for the next run. Keep the main Skill available on that computer.
ConsoleX now holds the task and its checks, but the method still depends on the local Skill. To change how the work is done, edit that Skill. Change the delivery goal, run rules and checks in ConsoleX.

B · Use Claude Code to execute a ConsoleX task
For example, you create a weekly research brief from a ConsoleX template and configure its Skills and tools there. You want to run it from your Claude Code session while keeping its saved method and checks.
- Create and save the task in ConsoleX, or choose an existing one whose method is saved there.
- Install and connect the plugin. Use
/consolex:startwith the task name or full task link to run it in the current Claude Code session. - For repeated use,
/consolex:addinstalls a task Skill. Invoke the/cx-…name returned by the plugin when you want to run it.
Adding a task Skill is a way to call the existing task. It does not turn the task into workflow A or move ownership of its method out of ConsoleX. Edit its method in ConsoleX; you can still use ConsoleX's run controls.

| I want to… | Guide |
|---|---|
| Set up either workflow on this computer | Install and connect |
| Save a method I developed in Claude Code — A | Save a session as a task |
| Run a saved task — A or B | Run and check tasks |
| Schedule either workflow on this computer | Schedule tasks in Claude Code |
| Schedule a task in ConsoleX — B | Schedule tasks in ConsoleX |
For local schedules, the computer must be awake and the Claude desktop app available. Stop an existing schedule before moving it to another environment to avoid duplicate runs.
